Dr. Ahvie Herskowitz
Founder of SFSCTC & Anatara Medicine
Dr. Herskowitz’s extensive training includes a medical degree from The Albert Einstein College of Medicine, residencies in Anatomic Pathology and Internal Medicine, and Fellowship training in Cardiology at The Johns Hopkins Medical Center. During his 12 years at Johns Hopkins, he became Associate Professor of Medicine and Immunology and Molecular Microbiology and led a research team in the study of molecular and immunological mechanisms of inflammation, autoimmunity, ischemia, heart transplantation rejection and congestive heart failure.
Over the past 15 years, he helped establish and lead innovative health care non-profit research and development organizations that have domestic and worldwide social impact. He was head of a 75-person research team at the Ischemia Research and Education Foundation, working with over 100 leading heart surgery hospitals around the world, reducing adverse outcomes during and after heart surgery. Since 1999, he has been Clinical Professor of Medicine at University of California at San Francisco, and Co-founder and Chief Medical Officer of the Institute for OneWorld Health, the first non-profit pharmaceutical company in the United States. He is President- Elect of the American College for Advancement in Medicine (ACAM), one of the oldest Integrative Medicine societies in the US; Chairman of the Board of Directors for iRND3, (www.irnd3.org) an organization that discovers new medicines for rare and neglected diseases, and serves on the Board for PVRI, Pulmonary Vascular Research Institute.
In 2010, he formed Anatara Medicine, based in San Francisco, a world-class integrative medicine team approach towards prevention and treatment of vascular, immunologic and difficult chronic diseases. He is also Founder of the San Francisco Stem Cell Treatment Center. With his 37 years of experience in Medicine, Pathology and Immunology, Dr. Herskowitz is one of most senior academic, anti-aging and regenerative medicine doctors in the U.S.
Dr. Irina Melnik
Sports Medicine Specialist
Dr. Melnik completed her internship in General Surgery and residency training in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) at Stanford University Hospital, and fellowship training in interventional spine and pain in Honolulu, HI. Dr. Melnik specializes in interventional spinal procedures, pain management, musculoskeletal rehabilitation, electrodiagnosis/EMG, treatment of sports and work related injuries as well as regenerative and complementary medicine. Dr. Melnik has conductive collaborative research projects with and presented educational lectures to Stanford’s PM &R residents and Spine fellows. She has been a guest on several regional radio programs in California and Hawaii on the subject of interventional and regenerative treatment of back pain. She has co-authored several research articles and book chapters, including the latest submitted 2nd edition of “Decision Making in Spinal Care”, D. Anderson, A. Vaccaro, and a chapter on ‘Intradiscal Thermal Therapies’ in “Evidence-Based Management of Low Back Pain”, S. Dagenais, S. Haldeman, 2012.
Dr. Susan Lin
Women’s Health & Aesthetic Medicine
Dr. Susan F. Lin is a board certified obstetrics-gynecologic surgeon practicing woman’s health in the San Francisco Bay area for 23 years. Dr. Susan Lin graduated from Boston University School of Medicine Six Year Medical Program with a NIH Cancer Research Fellowship. She completed her postdoctoral training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Kaiser Permanente Oakland, Felix Rutledge Oncology Fellowship at MD Anderson Cancer Center and Galloway Fellowship in Gynecologic Oncology at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. Dr. Susan Lin is board certified by American Board of OB/GYN, past fellow of American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, American Academy of Anti Aging Medicine, American Academy of Aesthetic Medicine, American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery. She is currently an Expert Reviewer for Medical Board of California and served as Assistant Clinical Professor of OB/GYN for UCSF School of Medicine. Dr. Lin owns and operates MD Laser & Cosmetics Center in San Mateo California. She is also the president of La Canada Venture Inc. holding the patent for lash and hair regeneration technology. She serves on board for McGovern Institute of Brain Research at Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Community Gatepath serving children and adults with disabilities.
Dr. Chau Nguyen
Dr. Chau Nguyen received his medical degree from the University of Saigon Medical School. He came to the US as a refugee in 1975, at which time he returned to residency training at San Mateo County General Hospital, and started his Internal Medicine family practice in San Jose in 1979.
Dr Nguyen enjoys caring for a wide variety of health issues and follows his patients through every stage of their lives. He strives to provide comprehensive care, cutting edge medical care, focusing on anti-aging and regenerative medicine, while collaborating with the only best sub-specialists available. He is the pioneer of the first Vietnamese refugee physicians and is very well respected in the medical community.
Dr. Devin Wilson
Dr. Devin Wilson is a licensed naturopathic doctor, who received his doctorate from the National College of Natural Medicine (NCNM) in Portland, OR and his Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Oregon in Eugene, OR. In 2013, he was awarded The Lime Light Award by NCNM. Before relocating to San Francisco Dr. Wilson served as the Executive President of the Student Alliance of Integrative Medicine (SAIM), Oregon’s largest student led integrative medicine group.
As an integrative practitioner, Dr. Wilson merges conventional and naturopathic medicine. He uses advanced laboratory testing to evaluate and diagnose a wide range of health conditions. Dr. Wilson recognizes the intricate relationships among the body’s organ systems and tailors treatment plans that address the whole person and underlying cause(s), instead of simply treating symptoms. Dr. Wilson has a special focus on cardiovascular disease, hormonal and metabolic dysfunction, oncology, digestive health and pain management. Dr. Wilson treats an array of acute and chronic conditions in men, women and children of all ages.
Dr. Wilson utilizes a variety of treatment tools including nutrition, pharmaceuticals and supplements, botanical medicine, IV therapy, regenerative injection therapies, ozone therapy and many others to address a spectrum of health conditions. He has completed professional training in ProlozoneTM and Ozone Therapy and was certified in 2012. Dr. Wilson has also completed additional training in IV therapy and regenerative injection therapies.
Dr. Wilson recognizes the necessity to continue to be an eternal student, learning from research and literature, his colleagues, and patients, alike. Aside from practicing medicine, Dr. Wilson is an outdoor enthusiast enjoying hiking, biking, skiing, motorcycle riding, rafting and rock climbing. He also enjoys live music, art, espresso, cooking, traveling, meditation, and he is an avid drummer.
Angela Lee, L.Ac
Angela is a Licensed Acupuncturist for the state of California. She received her Masters of Science in Oriental Medicine from Samra University, as well as her Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies from the University of California Santa Barbara. Angela has a successful and longstanding practice, and has been providing acupuncture and health services in her office downtown since 1995. She is a 5th Level Instructor in South Shaolin Qi Gong, and has been practicing for over 25 years – she teaches at both UCSF and Kaiser. Her love for Qi Gong inspired her to understand the foundations of Chinese Medicine.
In her practice, Angela supplements her Chinese medicine studies with Orthopedic Acupuncture training from the American College of Orthopedic Acupuncture. She travelled to Beijing China to study at the Beijing Institute of Orthopedics and Traumatology. Angela also studied under Dr. Richard Tan, OMD for 17 years in Qi Balancing Methods taught using the Mirror Image Method Acupuncture.
Angela treats an number of health issues such as neuropathy, pain, gastro intestinal disease, insomnia, chemo support, and emotional stress. She joins the team at Anatara Medicine to share her experience in Chinese Medicine.
Away from her private practice and teaching, Angela enjoys horseback riding, martial arts, playing the ukulele, and being with her family, which includes 5 humans, 2 dogs, 4 cats, and one horse.
